If I Ran For Governor
If I ran for governor,
The people’d never know.
They’d never see my face
Or know my name is Beau.
They’d want a big promise
Or for me to say “I can”
But I would be something like
Ambiguous Wonder Man
See with politics we’re tempted
To be all up in the mix
And treat each problem as
Something we can solely fix
If you convince all the people
that there’s an emergency,
and that you’re the one to fix it,
then in power you shall be
Standing at your vanity
In a self absorbed prism
We’re one mirror away from
total-itarian-ism
So if I ran for governor
And had to go campaign
I’d do it so that when you voted
You’d never know my name.
